Student Advancement Scholarship

General Information

The goal of the Philippine American Association (PAA) Student Advancement Scholarship is to support Filipino American youth in their advancement to higher education. PAA does so by recognizing their commitments and achievements in scholarship and leadership, as well as family and community. PAA's desire is to support Filipino American leaders of the future.

The Scholarship

Recipients receive a scholarship of up to $400 to be used for college or a trade/apprenticeship program. Awards are given for: (1) Merit based criteria and (2) Need based criteria. Applicants may apply for both awards, however, will not be awarded both. Award amounts are subject to change and approval by the PAA Board of Directors based on available funds.

How to Apply

  1. Complete an official application and mail it to the address on the application-must be postmarked by June 19th, 2015
  2. Obtain one letter of recommendation from an adult, not related to the applicant (such as a teacher, school official or a community leader). This letter needs to be mailed separately to the PAA Scholarship Committee

All applications and supporting information become the property of the Philippine American Association.

What is the application process?

All applications received are forwarded to the PAA Scholarship Selection Committee. The award recipients will be notified by early June and will be honored at the PAA Annual Picnic or similar event.
